Well I thought it was about time to start a build thread for my car. It may not be the most amazing GTI out there but it's my GTI and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. It's an '11 I got new in May of '11. My first mod, Maganflow cat back, came 5 months later and it all went down hill from there. It has come a long way from stock and it handles and feels great to drive, especially in the twisties. I do track the car lightly at the occasional auto-x and it does surprise people.

My car completely stock.

I had an accident and the intercooler and radiator was replaced (the work was done in octorber of last year, at a dealer), car is now at 54k miles.

I've noticed now that the weather is getting warmer and the radiator fan doesnt immediatly shut off with the car, the radiator fan is rotating very eccentrically, and vibrates the whole car (I've noticed something for a while, but was thinking it may be engine mounts). when the engine is off, it is still vibrating so much it makes the car feel like the engine is running. And also, since it's gotten warmer, I've tried to use the AC now, and it's so loud, vibrates so much, I'm afraid to use it. I got the car back when it was cold, so these things were not apparent, but now it's been like 4 months, and I want to take it back in to be looked at. I'm pretty confident these things were from the accident, but I've already taken the car back 3 times, and I'm afraid they may try to say it wasnt due to the accident. Hoping to get some feedback here on the noises/problems and thier possible causes before I go back and talk to the shop.
- AC compressor, the increase in volume is not from me moving the camera, but from the compressor kicking on.

So I test drove an FR-S this afternoon for shits and gigs... I want to kind of swap for my next car purchase(s) and get a nice sports car and a shitty practical car instead of what I have now, nice, sporty DD, shitty sports car. I really want an S2K (I think, haven't driven one yet) but I thought I'd give the Scioru a go...

Upon arriving at the dealership, I found a red one in the showroom and gave it a lengthy once over while the sales guy brought one out for me. The outside of the car is sexy, no question to me. The lines are gorgeous and it looks great in the red color. I get in, and the seat just hugs me. More sporty/bolstered than the GTI seats and very comfy. Everything is at your fingertips it feels like, it's a small low slung cabin. I really like this feeling more than the tall ass GTI. The dash and everything isn't as nice though, and the touchscreen unit looks like a double din aftermarket or something. It's fine but not super sleek looking. I got in the back seat and it sucks. I'm 6'2"... I guess it beats not having it, but it's a 2+2, whatever. The trunk is small too, I don't know why they didn't make it a hatch a la Integra, RSX, etc.

So, outside it's another one in red, 6 speed manual, 226 miles... Nice car. First thing I noticed driving was the gear box. Very tight, short throws, feels way more precise than my car's and much more fun to row. The clutch was fine, easy to drive smooth, a bit firmer than the GTI's. One awesome thing I noticed, was I didn't experience any rev hang on the drive... very nice.

I tried to exploit the powah... and well, there isn't any. I didn't launch it or anything, I'm not that much of an ass, but it isn't good for straight line speed (duh). It revs up quite quickly and is "quick enough"/no sloth, but my stock GTI would kill it from any speed roll, at least according to the anus dyno.

Cornering in the car is really fun. I couldn't push to the limit of the grip, but the wheel felt great in my hand and the car stayed very composed and pretty flat. As I accelerated through the twisty roads, the car stayed really nuetral, no understeer when the GTI would've (WOT), I never felt the back end lose any grip, wish I could've pushed it harder, but I can't be that guy. The exhaust makes fairly pleasing, much louder than GTI noises but not so loud it's obnoxious, I was pretty happy with that.

After the drive, I talked with the sales guy for a bit. The "true price" for the one I drove is $27,xxx. I guess you're paying for a small production car, but this seems steep to me when my GTI was $23,xxx. He said they get 24 per year. I asked if the true price is really the "true price" and he was kind of vague, but I think they'd work with me on it a bit. Anyone know about this? All and all, I really like the car. I think I'd rather drive it than a GTI IF I never had to carry anything/anyone and it was the same price as a GTI. I found it to be more fun, GTI felt like a Freightliner after driving the FR-s. I'm not ready to run out and blow $27k on one, I'll keep my GTI for now.

I hope this all made sense... very tired right now. Anyone else drive one recently? Thoughts?

So my sister is growing tired of just her stage 1 tune and wants to go stage 2. I have been out of the loop for years on downpipes for TSI CCTA engines and wanted to know what the current "go to" ebay downpipe would be for her car. One that is cheap but fits. No cat is absolutely fine. Just want to go stage 2 cheap as hell lol. Also must mate up to the stock catback with no problem. I remember back in the day autogriming or somename of that sorts was the popular one. I was going to get her the raceland but it is on back order until end of July. Sorry for what appears to be a complete n00b question, but look at my sig for what all I have done to my car lol:yikes: Also, from what I gather any 06+ MKV/MKVI ccta downpipe should work just fine. I just want to get her one without fitment problems.

Thanks in advance guys.

I will delete this thread after I get a a good answer.

Hello people,

So maybe I suck at searching but I can't what I'm looking for.

I want an aftermarket kit that would replace my current foglights on the Tdi. Plug and play nothing crazy just want it to look different. I really can't stand the Round foglights.

I LOVE this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tBa4SYxYUQ

Slimline TFL - Company that made them doesn't seem to be around anymore. Is there any alternatives or a direction you can point me in? Everything I found so far seems to be broken links.

I really want them to work the same way my stock setup is.

I am even thinking of doing a foglight delete or something :iono:

Edit - found a pic - this is EXACTLY what I want

If anyone knows where I can get this please point me in right direction!
Thanks!

The guys at Eurosport Park were nice enough to offer their shop/parking for us to have a get together. Unlike the other GTG going on this day, we're going to try to keep this VW/Audi Only GTG. This is a great opportunity for the VW/Audi enthusiasts to get to know each other, and meet the crew at Eurosport Park and see what they can do for us.
