CSB: Final interview done. Just need to pick a start date (2nd/3rd week of June), which means I'll move to Austin unless something goes wrong.
:)
Good deal. Congrats. Was this the burger flipper job or the pooper scooper job? :D (Lloyd rule)

Seriously - congrats

That’s because it really sucks, and people just pretend it’s great because fomo/hype.

“What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” is really intended to keep people from taking about how mediocre at best it actually is.
We enjoyed our time there, but there's no draw to go back. We went there primarily for the B-52s, as we missed out on tickets for their farewell tour. I was able to score some tickets for the residency at the Venetian, and my wife always wanted to see the Grand Canyon, so it became an anniversary destination.

I plan on staying for the rest of 2024.

I used to live in NYC... if I could move there with carrying stuff on subway, I can move to Austin no problem.
All I really need is a laptop + chargers, clothes, and toiletries.
I'll have plenty room for tools. Reason for me bringing them is because car is at 160k miles and shit can go wrong.

Do you think it'll pan out beyond Jan 2025?

My apartment in San Marcos did not have much room for tools - I had a basic Dewalt storage box with a corded drill plus bits, and some wrenches, pliers, etc. - and my friends' apartments in different parts of Austin "proper" had the same or less room than mine did.

Got a larger than expected tax return (inb4: n00b loan 2 govt @ 0%) and landlord threw me a few hundo for the lawn care I've been doing on my dime and time. BFI Mounts, DSG tune, or new Headunit? Thinking mounts.

It could pan out into 2025.
San Marcos far. I have a ton of friends in Austin... one of which has a roommate moving out June 1st... he's 15 min from office and it's a house.

Trans tune for sure.
I desperately want to do BFI mounts... but its $$

Vegas is great for Museum geeks

Atomic, Neon, One of the casinos had a car one (Imperial?). Saw Cirq de Sol, Penn & Teller, several nice restaurants, rented some trikes and did Red Rocks.

No gambling

I can’t judge, I love the GC, and we just celebrated our anniversary in Key West.

ECU is Stg2'd

TCU is stock

Lots of first gear chatter has me leaning towards mounts.

Yeah there's always a bit of YMMV - awesome that you seem to have housing already sorted. What part of Austin? And already having a social group there is huge too.

Bfi mounts are the bees knees

Have heard this several times.

Chatter like it's a little jumpy in partial throttle? I know in mk7 land TCU tunes really improve things for DSGs, it'd be hard to prioritize between the two for sure though because the BFI mounts are one of my favorite items. Can you learn to photosynthesize for sustenance and then use the saved money to make both mounts AND a TCU tune happen?

you can put plenty of power to the ground on stock mounts. what do you think, stock mounts lose 30% more WHP than upgraded ones? Holy n00b

Just partial throttle for the first maybe 5mph from a stop. Once it's fully in gear everything else seems fine. Internet says it's normal but also that mounts can help.

It's wild to me that people add power before doing mounts. What good is it if you can't put it to the ground?

Onramp warriors with all-season tires strike again!
