Does it really need a carbon cleaning?

Hey so my brother who has a 2017 Tiguan which he just had to replace an injector on cylinder one and then the injector harness and while he was at it did the full engine harness too. I got him to take pictures of the intake valves and send them to me but I'm not 100% sure how bad this looks. I think he's got over 220,000 km on it now. Let me know what you think. I told him to start finding a good VW shop to get a quote on a cleaning just incase.

Yeah he should definitely get them cleaned up.

Yea - with that many miles or km those need a cleaning. Those are black. Nothing but combustion residue on there.
