I have an mk6 gli dsg with a spare ecu sitting that would need the Immo defeated. Work something out?

Also running a stg 2 dsg tune from hpa if that matters

hi

Could perhaps join hyde when he goes in for his dyno session.

You want to come watch or validate my testing process? That would be awesome! I will be on the dyno all day so they will not be able to get another car on for testing. Send me your email/full name/cell so we can arrange this.

Have to factor in that only probably 2 or 3 people outside of my brother & APR that actually have a grasp on the med17 ECU.

Don't you guys just use the Alientech software to create your tunes and private label their flashing hardware, like other small tuners? If that's the case isn't it a bit of the stretch to suggest you're operating at the same level as the top tuners that actually develop their own tools and software? You really don't need to know much about MED17, just how to use Alientech's product, right? It looks like they figure out the MED17 communication for you.

Here we go again... This isn't a 'scandal' you uncovered, nor is it something we go to great lengths to hide. Everybody who uses a Programmer and opens up the software application sees it's an Alientech Product. We sell software, not flashing equipment. Being able to develop a protocol is an entirely different skillset than creating a good file, it's not interrelated.

Look up Freiling Racing, Byteshooter & CMD and voila you found the tools for many of the multi million dollar tuners. Most of it is private labeled, just look closely to uncover the 'scandal'. It's a business decision to let the experts do their job, it's cheaper and creates a better product at the end of the day.

Why so defensive? It didn't appear the OP suggested he uncovered a scandle?

What is the release date for the k04+ software and has it been tested on a GLi with upgraded valve springs?

:)

Lol he never used the word or even implied it was a "scandal." This is why I had asked earlier about 1/4 mile testing... or any sort of acceleration testing outside of customer logs and desk work.

The GLI is the hold up unfortunately. We don't want to release it to find out that it doesn't play well with the stock valve springs in the GLI. Preferably, a weak valve spring file is available at the launch of the product. If we don't have one and a customer runs into that issue we won't have an answer for them otherwise.

Here's the kicker, finding a customer who is aware they have weak valve springs and will let you test it is next to impossible

Undoubtedly, something needs to be figured out in short order. If it's putting an asterisk in the product release, then that may be our temporary solution.

Shouldn't of used the word scandal. It was presented as such like it was uncovering some type of secret information that makes our previous statements false. Getting a PowerGate is a small piece of the puzzle, they won't work on the Mk6 unless a coding change is performed and >$5,000 tools are first used to unlock ECU.

Anyway, about the acceleration testing. Majority of any real world testing will be done on the DM Mk6. While going to the 1/4 would be nice, drivability, dyno testing, road racing and or AutoX is the priority over straight line acceleration testing.

Ahh now I see where you have found your home. It seems your competitor is more focused on straight line acceleration and you are focused on the opposite. It seems to be a good deciding factor to have when new people are looking for a tune.

I'm glad everyone now has a bunch of decent options!

Going to the 1/4 mile would be nice in that it provides a ton of useful data. Drivability, road racing and auto-x are very subjective. 9/10 people who buy a tune buy it to go faster in a straight line. Even a before/after 0-60 on a pbox would be something.

I'm not trying to argue or troll... but the main focus of a tune is to make a car go faster.

I was on the track at Englishtown this past Sunday, low end and mid-range should be the main priority for daily drivers, track, auto-x, etc.

Interesting watching all the posts. All that really matters is the end result. DM produces excellent results. If you want excellent, buy it from them. I can tell you first hand that if your car is properly prepared you will be very very happy with the results.

I'll argue against that. Yes the main reason for buying the tune is to go faster in a straight line. But when the tune makes you do burnouts at a stoplight or 3rd gear burnouts accelerating out of a corner the tune has become a bigger problem than the benefits of straight line speed can overcome. Comfort and drivability are my priorities in picking one tuner over another, no question about it. A car length's difference at 140 isn't worth the poor refinement.
