If you do the coding above in the original post, there should be no reason it shouldnt work, this is a US vehicle without LED tails. Halogen original equipped with standard fog lights.

I have set it to 04 (ROW GTI) and also tried to set it to 00..it throws a code in North America choice, since mine isn't.

Can someone explain to me if there is a light configuration difference between running LEDs as DRL or from parking position using Euro Switch? I'm trying to understand what the benefit is to running LEDs as DRL.

Benefit that I see is that you could leave the switch at off position and LED will turn on by DRL.

Thanks Nimche. I think the auto turn-on is cool. Do you know if the tails turn on in either parking light position or when running DRL

Hey Jason,

Is it possible to have the LEDs on all the time (DRL & Lowbeam) without throwing a code?

Also, do the motors in these lights only move up/down or are they fully directional? I'm thinking I could rig up an accelerometer based "AFS like" system if the motors move in all directions.

Thanks!

I think in DRL you will see only the headlight LEDS but in parking taillights are on. I have to double check again for both. I am want the taillights be on all the time too, only way to show them off..

Is there any difference in the LED brightness between being set as DRL and parking lights? Just wondering if someone noticed anything, thanks..

This worked for me! I had byte 18,15,24, and 27, but everytime the "check DRL" notice came up and it never worked. Once I set byte 14 (check bit 3) to select bixenon with shutters, it worked. However, my highbeams now don't work.
Hmmm...DRLs or Highbeams? I personally am sticking with DRLs but the choice is yours.
Got the high beams working! I had to uncheck byte 14 [bit 3] and then change byte 18 from 00 to 20. Now it works perfectly. Thanks for the help!

I'm having similar issues that you had before you got your results.
Are you using the stock switch or Euroswitch? I'm using the stock switch with:
DRL is set as active
Byte 14 (check bit 2,3) tried bit 3 only with same results
Byte 15 (check bit 2,6,7) bit 6,7 only with same results
Byte 24 (check bit 7)
Byte 27 (check bit 2)
Byte 18 (not changed at factory setting 00)

Results: bulb out code, error message for DRL. My LEDs are on with low beams, I have no DRLs and no low beams. It looks like the only thing that I haven't tried is the byte 18, but I'm hesitant to change that. Any help would be appreciated.

Ron, great talking to you tonight. If you need anything else let me know.

edit: ELRO is working, and all is good. Just took a few minutes of walking through some vag-com settings. I am learning much more everytime as we have some variations in the CECM's
