Finally Hit the Scales

Another Sunday started off the same as usual, watch the car shows on Spike then work on the car. I lost one of the fog light access cover the other day. I went to PepBoys to buy a set of plastic screws/nuts to keep the cover from coming off again.

I also ended up going to the local scales to get an idea of what the car weighs.
I filled up the car less than a mile away from the scale. So the car had a full tank of gas, and all the oem parts except for intake and downpipe.

I have a MY11 with Nav and Manual transmission, stock wheels tires.

MY11 GTI 2 door with Navigation and Manual transmission: 3100 lbs.
Rear Seat Back (Large) 38.2 lbs.
Rear Seat Back (Small) 13.2 lbs.
Rear Seat (Bench) 11.4 lbs.
Tonneau Cover 4 lbs.
False Floor 5 lbs.
16" spare wheel 37 lbs.
Foam Surround/Tools 9.6
Misc brackets/hardware .6 lbs.

Damn I didn't think they weighed that much. it is good to know though now we all know our Power to Weight ratios. :)

Ready to race!
Our cars lighter than WRX's and STi's. My full interior track car ('07 Sti) weighed in just a shade over 3250 lbs.

That's actually pretty damn light for a full street trim car.

Someone weighed a MkV and it was damn near 3450lbs.

VW really put the car on a diet, somehow, and yet the quality improved.

That never happens.
