    P0302 & CEL when idling

Cool; I know I should have swapped stuff around first to be sure but to be honest it's getting pretty cold here now and I actually preferred the idea of dumping £100 on the R8 coils and just being done with it than swapping coils and plugs multiple times! So yeah, fingers crossed.

OK; R8 Coil packs fitted today. So far so good!

Bog standard genuine Bosch replacements. Am I right in saying that the cylinders are numbered from left to right? So number 1 is the one nearest the timing chain cover?

    P0302 & CEL when idling

So my new engine has almost 2000 miles on it. I was stage 1 from 0 to 1000 and then had a downpipe and stage 2 at the 1000 mile inspection. So far it's been an absolute champ. Today (the coldest of the year so far) I took the good lady out for a drive (that's my wife, I'm not referring to the...

What did you do to your MK6 today?

Yup. I think they're one of these outfits that just buys stuff from all over the world (mainly for the Japanese car enthusiast) and then just sells it on at a mark-up. They set themselves up as 'specialists' etc. but I think in reality it's just a couple of used car salesmen trying to make a...

What did you do to your MK6 today?

So back in August I ordered a Raceseng knob from a company in the UK after being told it would take about 3 weeks from the US. 3 weeks turned into 6 and they kept fobbing me off and were basically down right rude! Saying things like 'well what do you want us to do about it?' and 'what do you...

    Front grille red strips

Or just replace the whole grill with one of these:-

What did you do to your MK6 today?

Cool! I have a black rear badge as it was there when I bought the car but thinking of changing it for Chrome if I can find one that isn't hideously expensive. What I would like to do is 'clear plastidip' them as I've seen one or two others do this and it makes them look more kind of 'silver'...

What did you do to your MK6 today?

Trimmed the tabs on my R grill so I could fit it properly. Swapped out my white lip spoiler for a gloss black version to match the grill and mirror covers. Rubbish picture but you get the idea. Really happy with how it's all turned out. I see so many black VW badges nowadays I'm actually...

Golf GT 1.4 TSI (160) or GTI?

What country are you in? Here in the UK it's between £800 and £1000 for a specialist indie. Most of the money is on labour.

Golf GT 1.4 TSI (160) or GTI?

I was in this situation 6 months ago; leaving behind 10 years of GTTDI ownership and 15 years of GTI ownership prior to that. It seems to easy to say but even though I had a ton of issues, I would still say GTI. The two cars are not really comparable. The 1.4 at Stage 2 is only just going to get...

    Golf R Grille.

So here are the R grill, the GTI then the standard golf grill (not my pics but you can see enough to see that they're clearly different)

    Golf R Grille.

Hey, just bringing this back from the dead for the benefit of anyone reading it to state categorically that the quote above is absolutely total bollocks! I have all three (genuine) grills here; a gti, standard golf and R. They all have completely different back parts. The R is the most different...

Picture request - Golf GTI with Golf R Grill

It did turn out great! Very impressive. I don't think I'll be going to quite that much effort. Are there any tips you could give me in respect to bumper dis-assembly in this thread:- https://www.golfmk6.com/forums/index.php?threads/colour-coding-front-bumper-insert.378612/

    Colour Coding Front Bumper Insert

Seriously considering buying a genuine front bumper insert and having it colour coded; looking through CW thread and I'm thinking it's something I want to do. So assuming I have a new insert, painted, in my hands ready to go, how hard is the swap? I've had the bumper off a million times and I'm...
