I understand that VW wants optimum fuel efficiency, but it's annoying that my car tells me to upshift when my rpm isn't even at 2k :mad0259:

Any way you can shut that option off?
Do you guys follow the shift change indicator?

i just think it's a number out of nowhere. you control the car, not the other way around.

I was hoping there was a way to turn on some sort of sport mode when i first got my car...but alas...no.ive learned to tune it out

Have you tried shifting into 6th when the computer suggests? This engine produces peak torque at 1,800 rpm. You won’t lug this engine until you are below 1,500 rpm. Also, a little low-rpm turbo boost is excellent for fuel economy because it eliminates pumping losses. That makes the engine more efficient and improves fuel mileage. If you listen to the computer, you’ll probably get better fuel mileage. Those German engineers know their jobs very well.

at first it annoyed me, but then I got used to it. I usually shift at 2k anyhow.

if i shift myself i shift around 3k. I didn't even know there were indicators that tell you to shift up...

Question about lugging engine. I turn corners in 3rd gear and engine hits 1,000 rpms before I gas it again. It's not too bad for the engine right? I feel like downshifting to second for each corner turn is overkill.
