Ditch the 2 door Golf in favor of the Scirocco - no reason for a 2 door Golf in that case.

I would never spring for an R, so I don't care personally - but yes - it should be available in DSG.

Cant. To offer choices like that would be too expensive. They're trying to keep it within such a tight price tolerance, they can afford to do entertain both sides of the debate.

People will buy the R regardless of which transmission it has. Trust me. Having actually experienced both DSG and 6MT, I would drive either!

Even I, the man that took a huge hit because I sold the only automatic I ever owned after two weeks because I hate autos that much, would consider a DSG R. Just give me a traditional manual shifter pattern (plus another gate for Park) and I will be happy.

I seriously would buy an Mk7 R if it was:

300 hp-ish
awd (obvi)
37k OTD with everything but Nav.
