Impressions of DG springs and Bilstein B8 shocks
So I've had my shocks and springs installed now for about 10 days.
First off, I've never had any upgraded suspension parts on any of my previous cars, so its hard for me to really compare.
The springs definitely help keep the car flat through the turns. At first I was surprised by how harsh the ride was, but I think that was more because I hadn't driven my car or anything else remotely sporty in a week.
The shocks definitely are a huge improvement over stock. They ride incredibly well, and handle bumps in the road much better. It is fairly difficult though for me to determine how much of the difference is due to the springs and how much is from the shocks.
The car does feel much more planted in a straight line, and especially under very hard braking from speed, but really the thing that annoys me now is that it is much easier for me to tell how much of a limiting factor my tires are. Before I installed my suspension bits, the tires would hold on in a turn up until the point where I was getting enough body roll to sketch me out a bit. Now my tires are significantly less capable than the suspension, and the car breaks loose in turns with less warning. Not to say that it doesn't go around turns faster. I look forward to getting some more rubber and a front sway bar to really pick up some speed in the twisties.
