The radar detector saved my ass thread

So most of us probably have a radar detector, if you don't and your performance moded, your either stupid or don't like to have fun or extremely clever.

List your:
1. Detector brand and model
2. How many times its paid for itself
3. How many tickets you have gotten with it failing on you
4. Do you like to go fast?
5. Something interesting about yourself related or not

1. Escort Solo S3
2. 6ish
3. 0 - If you own a quality product and know how to use it...it should always save you.
4. There is a time and place for going fast.
5. When I was thinking about getting a GTI I kept "window shopping" online and the exact one I wanted was at the dealership where my family bought a Tiguan. I was still in college and an intern but I knew when I graduated I was going to get that same car/color/spec...I graduated, became full-time, and a month later I went to the same dealership without test driving it or even sitting in it signed the papers and it was mine. It was if the car was waiting for me :w00t:

No radar anymore, had a nice Passport X50i (I think, something like that). It caused as many tickets as its saved. I ditched it a long time, I'm much better off without one and just not driving like a cocksucker. Random thing - I'm doing Ironman Louisville in 30 days from now.

1. I live in Virginia so I can't have one.
2. -2 (that's "negative two")
3. Phhhhbbbbttt.
4. I drive "quickly" not "fast."
5. I cannot eat pizza crusts without something to dip them in.

This is what happen to me when I had a different radar detector but the 9500ix has a built in GPS that remembers false signals....basically what this equates to is the radar detector ONLY going off when there is a cop somewhere...I LOVE IT. So I dont ever ignore it or get used to it going off all the time.

and ironman...you must be pretty beast bro.

I just moved from the VA. I still used mine, lol. Made it super effective bc they expect you not to have one so they were always real easy to detect. I put it between the passenger headrest and the seat and it fit snugly and stealth. I even got pulled over by a cop and was scared as shit he detected my detector(LOL) but he was pulling me over for tinted windows...he didnt even see the radar detector chilling there. I got off scott free cause I had NC plates and drivers license still...lol why did he eve bother pulling me over? i have no idea.

I dont run a radar detector and I have never received a moving violation in the 17 years I have been driving.

I love to drive fast. You must be smart about it...

A false positive isn't really a problem, it's a false negative that gets you a ticket for doing 120 in a 65.
