245/40/17

MKV Aaron1

Ready to race!
I want to move to a 245/40/17 next season, but am getting conflicting reports on fitment. I have read that they will fit and not rub at stock height, but not much about being slightly lowered.

I'm running H&R sport springs on the R, have 17x8 et48 wheels, and want to run 245/40/17s.

Any details on rubbing other than the obvious need for fender screw mod up front?

Thanks.

I've only ran those on stock height, and they are pretty common for the other MK5/MK6 VW locally for autoX, also at stock height. For what its worth, on relatively high offset like ET48 probably helps, and also the fact that 245/40/17 is slightly shorter tire than the stock size, which will probably help too...When I had the 245s I didn't even do the fender screw mod, its not til 255s I did that.

they seem to be doable with little to no modifications needed. Seems some people got away with max rear camber and/or trimming the plastic bumper/fender joint inside the rear well.
