For an '86 that's quite an upgrade.

In response to the threads title, nothing wrong with letting teenagers use your car - as long as they've been raised responsibly and taught the value of life.

Most kids nowadays don't know the value of hard earned things....especially where i grew up

i will admit I am not the most mature person in the world but when it comes to cars i am pretty responsible....the fact is that cars and driving in general is a pretty large responsibility...every time you step into a car you are responsible for your own life as well as being safe and not endangering everyone else you might encounter....people who have cars bought for them, in almost every circumstance, do not treat their cars with respect, nor do they drive responsibly as scene in the OP

My first car was an 87 ford escort gt (ghetto thruster) it did 0-60 in... Well I still don't think it's gotten to 60mph yet. I learned how to handle a car in that.. At slow speeds.
It truly is the entitlement generation.

Don't forget all the deaths recently involving teens and suvs.

My first car was a 1986 mk2 golf.

My first was a 1986 Honda civic with 284k miles LAWLZ

first car was a '94 Ford Thunderbird with a 3.8L V6. that thing hauled ass and was wide and low to the ground and handled great around corners :D and this car was given to me. i took it off roading and everything. BUT if i broke anything i replaced it. then my brother got it after me and he demolished it. blew the water pump, radiator, power steering box, brakes, tires, he pretty much destroyed the car. then my buddy bought it of of my parents for $500 and he eventually totaled it. it wasn't a total loss because the tranny was going out and the odometer stopped spinning at 138k over 3 years ago

but yes teenager drivers mostly drive like jackasses and deserve a beater like i had.

Wow... he definitely learned his lesson. My kid will get a car with great gas mileage, no power, and great brakes.
