I'm in Korea right now, but my car is in the UK and I will be trying to figure this out next month while i'm home for midtour. Not sure how far I'll get without VAG-COM, but we'll see. I know another guy there that might be able to help figure out it too. Right now, I have the wonderful light that hangs from under the bumper. :barf:

If you look at my thread

It has a link to a list of the CECM pins. It looks like C28 is the right reverse light. If you disconnect the wire coming from the right reverse light at the C28 plug, you can tap into it. You'll still need Vagcom to enable the rear fog to get rid of the bulb error.

If you are worried about them drilling a hole into the underside of your bumper, don't worry....they will use an existing hole. My wife had mine done at Coopers in Mildenhall Village....the are Mini specialists, but do lights conversions for US Spec cars. I was worried about them drilling a hole, but I called them up and they explained. So for the time being, it might be what you gotta do until we can figure this out.

Valeoray - I've got a pin listing and the wire I can't seem to find is the "Right reversing bulb" I know for putting a fog light in NA (left side of car), you move the wire from the black CECM connector (A28 - LEFT Reversing bulb -M16-) to the brown connector (C47 - Rear LEFT fog light bulb -L46-). I need to figure out which wire to move to the brown connector (C28 - Rear RIGHT fog light bulb -L47-). If you have any idea of which wire to move for the right, that would help a ton.

ONLYNAVW and Eat_My_Shorts I get to England on my midtour in just under a month. Within the first few days there I will be going to Bury St. Edmunds Northgate VW to get the needed trigger wire (movers lost my first one) and I am going to try and get a copy of the euro spec wiring diagram and see if I can figure it out and also ask the guys there if they can help. So hopefully I can figure something out.

I go to the dealership in Bury all the time... Good dudes... If you need me to I can get the trigger wire for you so you do have to drive over there... I always seem to have about 2-3 trigger wires I used my other ones to run the wires across the back...

Let me know what you figure out. If this works.....it will save a TON of time and research and many other GTI lovers coming to the UK will really appreciate it....if it doesn't, we may have to put our heads together and figure it out.

I've got a repair wire coming in the mail...ordered it from ecs. But I'm gonna have to go to Northgate anyway...need to see about updating my GPS maps to UK. Theres 100 quid I don't really want to spend....but oh well.

Do you have or know anyone that has VAG-COM?

Depending on which radio you have... you wont be able to get the GPS maps for the UK if you have the 315 you CAN NOT!!! they are updated by SD disk and it wont work... I've talked to the dealership on several times trying to get it.

In reading http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4898893-LED-tail-Install-with-or-without-Rear-Fog , it seems logical to me to take the wire from C28 and plug it into C47. It appears the C47 plug provides power to the rear fog light. By plugging the wire from C28 (the wire that goes to the right side rear backup light) to C47, you should have it working. You might have to plug the wire at A28 back to C28 to have your left side backup light continue working. Essentially, you're following the same instructions as per the thread above, but you're switching the left and right reverse bulb wires around.

NOW DISCLAIMER: If you plan on doing this, please do so at your own risk.

Have they told you why? SD cards are not region coded or anything. I contacted NAVTEQ and they said it shouldn't be a problem.

Check out my thread for rear fog, almost got it working perfect. Will update this as I make progress.

Also was just at my local VW dealership and tried to install the UK maps. They had an SD card and the radio would not take it. They are going to contact VW and see what they say, will let you know.
